05/08/07 » Snetterton » Brett back in the lead of the championship
Despite having missed round three of the series due to work commitments, Brett is now leading the championship once again after a hugely successful weekend at Snetterton.
He dominated qualifying on Saturday, taking pole with a 0.4 second margin to second place. Unfortunately he lost his lead on the first lap. It was clear to see he still had the speed. Brett piled pressure onto the leading car from start to finish, setting the fastest lap of the race by six tenths of a second. This time also gave him the Snetterton lap record for Formula Jedi, his third one so far, beating the previous record by a staggering 1.25 seconds. Despite this awesome pace he could not regain the lead.
“We made the wrong decision with our gear ratio. I was loosing too much speed at the end of the long straights, which are the only overtaking opportunities at this circuit”.
With that technical error rectified for Qualifying two, Brett took pole again. This time after only completing four laps in order to save his tyres for the race. This tactic paid off. After swapping positions with his main championship rival twice on lap three, Brett began to pull out a very convincing lead. By the time the chequered flag fell, he had a twenty two second gap back to second place. It was his third win of the season, and yet another fastest lap of the race to add to his championship tally.
