09/09/07 » Brands Hatch » Driveshaft disaster leaves Parris with only a 2 point lead in the Championship.
There was only a single qualifying session for both races on the Sunday, which ended in disappointment after the car had been so competitive during testing on Friday. Brett finished the session in P3 after a couple of technical difficulties. This proved to be insignificant however come race 1, as Brett never even made away from the line. He had a driveshaft failure on the green flag lap.
This meant he had to start last for race 2, but a fantastic start and aggressive first few corners left him P8 by the end on the first lap. He continued to carve his way through the field, consistently lapping faster than the leading cars. By the halfway point he had made it to P4, but could do no more as he had a six second gap between him and P3. This had closed to three seconds by the time the flag fell. Brett had left round eight of the series with just seven points, leaving him with only a two point lead in the championship. There is only one round remaining at Snetterton, a circuit where Brett holds the lap record, and has won at twice before.
