15/04/06 » Silverstone » 6th Place finish on first single seater outing
A dry Silverstone National circuit was to be the setting for Brett’s first ever race in the Formula Jedi Championship. A 26 car grid made qualifying a daunting task, but he exceeded to teams expectations by qualifying 7th.
As the cars lined up for the start of the race, Brett’s inexperience got the better of him as he made a bad getaway, dropping to the very back of the pack. Only a few laps later however, he had battled his way back through into 6th position, proving that the race craft he had developed whilst competing in the British Karting championship was an invaluable asset.
Brett had surprised many with his speed, race craft, and 6th place finish in his first ever race outside karting. After assessing his pace in comparison to the rest of the field, the team has decided to make the switch from a Yamaha to a Suzuki engine, as his slight lap time deficit was put down to a lack of straight line speed. The move cannot be made till after the Donington Park round however, due to a waiting list at the Jedi factory.![]() |
